Simplify complex subjects into clear, abstract shapes and masses.
Understand value patterns and how they create visual impact.
Explore the relationship between value, chroma and colour harmony.
Design stronger focal points and improve the overall structure of a painting.
Learn compositional principles inspired by the Russian Academic tradition.
Progress from thumbnail sketches and grisaille studies to a finished oil painting.
Develop original compositional ideas using the methods taught throughout the course.
Suitable for: Students with some experience in drawing or oil painting who want to strengthen the design and structure of their work.
